MUSICAL DIRECTING

Hudson Crowe is a Glasgow based musical director, pianist, percussionist, conductor, and arranger. 

Hudson's passion for Musical Theatre has given him the opportunity to attend the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS), in Glasgow, to pursue an MA in Musical Theatre with a focus in Musical Directing, under the direction of David Higham. There, he has been given the opportunity to music direct, arrange, play keys, and conduct for RCS's annual Christmas at the Conservatoire program and Urinetown as an actor-muso. Later this year he will be music directing for the MA New Work and Song & Dance projects, as well as RCS's production at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. 

In the U.S., Hudson has traveled to Crawford, Nebraska as a music director for Post Playhouse's 2023 Summer Program. There, he music directed and played for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat; You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown; The Spitfire Grill; and Clue: The Musical. In Crawford, Hudson also musical directed and performed for the season's cabaret, and played drum set for Leader of the Pack.

 

His other credits include rehearsal pianist for Virginia Tech's production of Once Upon a Mattress in fall of 2022, Assistant Music Directing Radford University's production of The Drowsy Chaperone in the spring of 2022,

playing keys at the Virginia Children's Theatre in Roanoke, VA, for their productions of The Addams Family and The Secret Garden in the fall seasons of 2021 and 2022, respectively.

Hudson has been playing piano for almost two decades. He recently graduated from Radford University where he studied piano performance under the direction of Dr. Matthew Cataldi, where he gathered experience in collaboration, piano ensembles, composing, improvising, recording, and more.

During his time at Radford University, Hudson has had the honor of playing in masterclasses given by Dr. Daniel Lin, Gloria Campaner, Dr. Dino Mulic, Dr. Evan Mitchell, Dr. Ryan Fogg, and Dr. Derek Parsons. Hudson auditioned for and was accepted into the Emerald Coast Virtual Institute 2020 with masterclasses given by Virginia Weckstrom and Jeffrey Cohen.

He has multiple years of church music experience. Recently, Hudson was the Organist, Pianist, and Director of Music at Northview United Methodist Church in Roanoke, Virginia, where he was responsible for programming music, leading weekly choir rehearsals, leading the children and handbell choirs, accompanying the choir, and playing organ. He has experience playing for weddings, playing in bands, in chamber groups, and accompanying a wide variety of other instruments and voices.   

Hudson has also participated in the Young Artist Conducting Apprentice for Opera Roanoke in 2021, where he developed his vocal pedagogy and conducting skills, and was featured as a guest conductor on Opera Roanoke's 2021 summer concert. He also performed as a Student Conductor for the RU Wind Symphony's Fall 2021 concert.
