PERCUSSION

Marching Percussion

Hudson has had the privilege of marching three season of World Class Drum & Bugle Corps, in the front ensemble with Spirit of Atlanta, and on the snareline with Jersey Surf and later Carolina Crown. He has also had experience teaching high school drumlines & front ensembles in marching band and indoor drumline settings. He also enjoys spending his free time transcribing and arranging music from or for marching ensembles.

Recent Performances

In the spring of 2023, Hudson had the opportunity to perform with world-renown percussionist Michael Burritt and the Virginia Tech Percussion Ensemble on Joseph Schwantner's Fast Forward, a highly virtuosic 20th-Century percussion ensemble piece written for Burritt.

Hudson is continuing to play drum set in everything from small-scale musical theatre cabarets to professional theatre productions in the States and the UK.

Concert Percussion

Hudson has been playing concert percussion for over a decade, and has experience performing solo works, in orchestras, and in percussion ensembles. He has also had experience teaching percussion emsembles and other high school groups over the last few years. 

At Radford, Hudson has had the opportunity to travel to PASIC in 2019, where the RU Percussion Ensemble competed and scored 3rd place in the Percussion Ensemble Competition there. He has also traveled to and performed at the 2019 North Carolina Percussion Symposium, and the 2020 McCormick Marimba Festival at USF, Florida.

Recently, Hudson has had the opportunity to perform in masterclasses with esteemed percussionists such as Michael Burrit, Matthew Coley, and Jim Petercsak.
